>You mean the exact same thing just with extra rocks , cracks and other random obstacles just to make every secret base look unique ?This describes the Gen 4 bases more than anything else. No matter where you made it in the underground it was the same box shape with a different amount of rocks in a different shape.
In gen 3 there were 6 different types of bases; Trees, Shrubs and Red, Yellow, Blue and Brown Caves each with four different layouts each so you wouldn't see a tree base that looks the same as a red cave base.
Don't believe it? Check this
https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Secret_BaseOh and another thing, you NEED to play that stupid capture the flag game in Gen 4 to remove rocks so if you have no one to play with or don't have a second game you were fucked.
>And well , it's totally a crime to remove something as irrelevant as battling when talking about mining for gems , right ? Considering battling can provide far more variety than just tapping away at a screen? Yeah, yeah it is.
Tell me did you genuinely like playing with the RNG and hoping you didn't get a spot that was filled with fucking iron?
>something that is at least somewhat engaging , especially to kids .Yeah give them a minigame that requires less from the player to win. Totally engaging right? The minigame that taught players about game mechanics and had them put in a modicum of thought to avoid the nervous status and negative heart moves?
Totally too easy, right?
>And Pt BF was enjoyable to me at leastKey words there son, "to me". You clearly don't know any better.
>focusing more on different styles of battlingExcuse me?
They were the battle tower x 4 plus rentals anon, they didn't deviate from that format of challenging x amount of trainers and then the boss. They only had some kind of throwaway gimmick like castle points where you just grind up points and play normally
