It's not a case like Smash where it's "technically" a fighting game and is competitive, but does it's own thing: Pokken is litterally, straight up just designed like traditional fighters.
Other then the Phase Shift mechanic, it's about as close to Street Fighter, MK/Injustice, KI, etc as they are to each other.
