I'd only be fine with this because base game Sinnoh (besides issues like game speed and the dex) is pretty great imo.

Give me one fucking reason why they'd remake that? Gen 1/2 print money. Gen 3 had to be ported to bring all generations to the 3DS. Gen 4 may not have a way to transfer Pokemon directly to the Pokebank like Gen 5, but almost everyone was able to bring their injections from Gen 4 to 5 to fill dexes worldwide.
