If only the new HP value would let a Pokemon survive an attack, the game freaks out when it comes to using that Pokemon. In Singles, you effectively softlock and have to reset

If you try to enter the Safari Zone in Yellow with less than $500, the man at the entrance will take all of your money and let you in anyway, but only gives you a number of Safari Balls proportional to how much money you were carrying. If you have no money at all, he won't let you in, but if you keep trying to walk past him, he gets increasingly annoyed until he eventually gives up and lets you in with a single Safari Ball.
Presumably this was added to prevent people from being unable to reach HM03 (and therefore defeat Blaine) if they somehow reached the Safari Zone with no money, no items to sell, no trainers left to battle and nothing with Pay Day.

Mimikyu's busted form is compatible with the Surf TM in SM, but it still can't be taught the move because it can't legally be in its busted form outside of battle. The same applies to Totem Mimikyu's busted form.

By the same merit, if you try to bring a Diglett into any of the jumping minigames in the HGSS Pokeathalon, he'll be stuck in the ground and can't get any points. Except hurdle jump, where he'll just dig under the hurdles.

In Generation 3 only, if you hit a Pokemon for ridiculous amount of damage, the HP bar draining is skipped and Pokemon goes down immediately.

We're talking "more than 30000 points of damage" level of ridiculous, which pretty much requires Calm Mind Water Spout from Kyogre.

Talking about poor trainers, if you don't have enough money to pay the taxi service in Lumiose, the guy still transports you, but you get challenged to a fight against either a lv33 or 55 Pokemon, regardless of the point of the game you're in.

Using Nature Power against Deoxys in outer space in ORAS turns it into Draco Meteor. This is the only location in any game that turns it into this move, and since Deoxys relocates to the Sky Pillar if you don't catch it there, you get exactly one chance per save file to see it happen.
Speaking of Nature Power, it's displayed as having 95% accuracy in RSE, but that value is never used since it just uses the accuracy of whichever move it turns into instead.

Speaking of this, Sinnoh's Giant Marsh has separate list of effects for the moves.

This is never actually used as there is no marsh tiles in Kanjoh outside of Safari Zone and I don't think you can lure any Trainers in Sinnoh into them.

If you have Diglett/Dugtrio participate in the Hurdle Jump event in HGSS's Pokeathlon, they will burrow under the hurdles instead of jumping over them.

In Pokemon Battle Revolution, the move Toxic is represented by shooting a pair of orbiting purple orbs towards the opponent. If Spinda or Carnivine use Toxic, however, the orbs will spin erratically.

In Gen IV, Fire Fang could bypass Wonder Guard, even if the defender isn't weak to Fire.

Battle Revolution did some extra stuff. Certain moves like screens or Mist have special animation that plays if they fade out naturally.

Trick Room has its own animation that I wish was a thing in more games.

I wonder if Teleport has programmed in animation in Colosseum and Battle Revolution? There are wild Pokemon in GoD, and Stadium games play animation even if the move fails, so these are fine.

Using Secret Power in a volcanic area in ORAS makes it use Incinerate's animation.

The thing is, Secret Power is single target, meaning that if there is more than one target in battle, it will play a different animation than Incinerate (which hits more than one Pokemon). I've heard they fucked up that in Alola games and it wrongly displays the normal animation.

It's a prime number.

All UBs, as well as Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma learn moves at prime levels, with the exception of 1 (1 is an oddball since it's neither prime nor complex).

USUM ruined this by giving Necrozma Photon Geyser at 50.

Friendy reminder that X Accuracy was busted shit in G1 and G2 and if items were allowed in multiplayer, everybody and their mom would run it.

What it did? Oh, it only made you completely ignore accuracy checks (though it didn't ignore Dig and Fly in G1, unlike Swift). Pretty sure it worked on OHKO moves as well.

A lot of gyms actually give you viable catches prior to them are strong against the gym leader. Outside of choosing your starter, I think Brock is one of the only ones I can think of who doesn't. You can catch Oddish outside of Cerulean, Diglett cave is accessible before Surge, etc etc. There's a guy in second gen in Goldenrod who offers to trade you his Machop for a Drowzee (you can get them literally in the route just outside the city) before you challenge Whitney.

On the items official artwork, in the corner, it is labeled 1958.12.1,

which is almost exactly 50 years to the day the item was first distributed in, December 1st 2009

In XY, during the Wigglytuff and Salamence episode, Wigglytuff just outright ignores dragon pulse. Visually, it washes over the fairy type to no effect.

Most of the veterans have 252/252 ev spreads, three stats with 30 and three with 15 for their iv spreads, and set natures.
Ace trainers always have at least two stats with 30ivs.
Black belts have 31 attack ivs, adamant nature, and nearly all of them have 252 attack evs. The exception is black belt who's training under a kid on route 8.
Cooks have 30 hp ivs.

Also Zangoose originally had purple claws and it made sense because it and Seviper have scars from each other

Actually, it depends.

If a Pokemon has 50-50 gender ratio, they tend to use the same gender. Something like a starter with use the more common gender.

There are some exceptions to this, like how May has a female starter in ORAS.

I tnk it's true for random Route Trainers, at least it was true a few gens ago, but even then there were a few oddballs lke Grimsley in BW having an all female Team with one male each (Scrafty in the first battle, Sharpedo in the Rematch)

In BW2 his whole Team is female, with the exception of a Challnge Run Rematch, were it is all male. No other E4 changes their Pokemons gender based off if the difficulty settings.

Azurill has a 25/76 male to female gender ratio, whilst Marill is the standard 50/50. Because of this, a female Azurill can change gender into a male Marill when it evolves. As of Gen 6 this was hardcoded out.

Like others said this is usually (not always, but usually) only the case with Pokémon with a 50/50 gender ratio. But there are a few guys, namely Saturn, Bugsy and Will in Gen 4 who use female Pokémon.
