>>34405606XY was shitty. They were ugly as fuck, had a shitty evil team, and had some shitty designs. That being said, it definitely did a lot for the series. Fairy type, Amie, Super Training and the bottom screen where you can access all the online features was great.
I know I just shat on the designs, but there were some good ones. Xerneas, Greninja, and the Trevenant line and the Gourgeist line are prime examples of great designs. There were plenty more too, but I can't think of them all.
Overall, XY weren't great. The entire gen was kind of shitty, but GF was still figuring out 3D. They were fine for what they were, and they did a lot for the series.
