Zygarde's role was a defender of the environment, not as a balance between life and death.

Necrozma was a producer of light whose light was stolen. He is only related to solgaleo/lunala because of their light.

They aren't a trio.

It's interesting since Necrozma IS the antagonist this time, only Giratina is close to that, yet it is disturbed by the fact Cyrus messed with time/space.

Necrozma is not the trio master like the others, it is just the antithesis of the Light duo.

Still don't know how to feel about this retcon with Z-moves and crystals as well ass totem auras all being products of Necrozma.
So you have these island deities who are depicted as being very reclusive and even afraid of change (attacking super marts and the like) and the trials and ruins they help facilitate so the native humans can pay them tribute every year are all working off of Necrozma's power? Kind of hard to swallow, even if you can make sense out of it. I don't feel like this was the original intent.

Z stones being part of Necrozma's body was obvious though. It was a fairly common theory here.

The fact that Alola was associated with rainbows and Necrozma is a prism should have been a big tip-off as to how important it would be in the lore in general too.

IIRC the only reason the Nebby line wasn't classified as UBs was because they had been in Alola before, so the people regarded them different.
