VGC Cuck here. Can a Smogon bro tell me what it's like facing off against this thing in a single battle? I had a match last night against one in doubles that attempted to stall out with Infestation alongside a Leech Seed Celesteela, I ko'd the steela then encored the Toxapex into baneful bunker and forced him to forfeit. I get that facing stall in doubles is much easier than in singles, but is this thing really as bad as I hear it is? IS everyone basically forced to run a strong electric type Pokemon Tapu Koko with HP Ice for Lando switch ins to deal with this thing?

It can be annoying to deal with if you don't have a strong Psychic/Electric/Ground type that can OHKO it. It's frustratingly hard to kill because of regen and recover, and since it has haze you can't really set up on it. It's also able to set T-spikes, making it even more infuriating. It's a pain in the ass to fight, but not unbeatable

As someone who not only used gothitrap in stall but on bulky offense and Barton pass post first clause let me tell you that shadow tag was a ridiculously good wincon.

Seriously I could trap anything that stopped my main wincon or remove a mon from their team and I already won the match.

It wasn't even hard to pull off, a slow volt turn from bulky talonflame/Scizor/Gliscor/Rotom/Whimsicott forcing a switch or BP lopunny getting negative switch priority and I would remove their counters.

That was enough to win.

Probably because switching it one of the most fundamental parts of a competitive game and having Shadow Tag is basically the Pokemon version of Wobbling.
If your counter to say something like Xerneas, Zygarde, Mega Salamence, ect. gets trapped by Gothitella or Mega Gengar (and they lose in the 1v1 or can't escape) due to one missed prediction, you're essentially fucked. If you can't switch, you can't save your counters or wallbreakers when you send them in and your chances of winning become slim to none.

It is as fundamental as running, aka forfeiting. Only trappers that exist could be defeated by ghost and ice types with ease. Froslass played right beats both s-tag and arena trap.

Frosslass does nothing vs trappers especially not vs Dugtrio such outspeed naturally and can switch out on frosslass without fear, Or Weavile/ttar the pursuit trappers for stall why would i fear frosslass.

The most important thing about Dennnisses BP team wasn't just that it was unbeatable, it was also impossible to fuck up. You could give the team and a flowchart to somebody who'd never played the game before and they'd be able to reach the top of the ladder with a 10:1 W/L ratio with the team too.

They made it too difficult with the maximum battle limit. You have to get the reqs without 75 battles or something so if you get haxxed often or run into bad matchups on your first attempt you're looking at 150 battles to have a chance at affecting the outcome of a single suspect test. It was never about player skill, more about mindless time-wasting. Like if you're really good at the format but don't have the time to play that much you essentially can't vote. The system is built for people who have an unhealthy amount of time to dedicate to simulated Pokemon battling. Also there hasn't really been a highly-contentious suspect test in awhile so it often seems pointless getting the reqs if you're on the minority side of either pro or anti-ban. And how can you tell what the majority camp is? Read the Council member posts that are mandatory linked in the second post of every suspect thread. It's fucking retarded.

The problem with Toxapex is its immortality. Regenerator + Recover + toxic immunity means you can never put pressure on it because it can always switch out and come back at full health. Now, being immortal on its own wouldn't be so bad, but it is when you have retarded levels of utility (toxic, toxic spikes, knock off, scald, and haze). That's way too much fucking much power for a single Pokemon, especially when it's not even hard to pull off. Unlike other top-tier Pokemon, a retard can use Toxapex and it will have its maximum effect and make his team objectively better.

Toxapex isn't broken. There are plenty of common OU mons that deal with it well. It is very common but the metagame doesn't revolve around it, same reason Lando is fine.
In fact I would go as far as to say it has to stay if they want stall to actually be a viable playstyle. It has been the worst of the three by a significant margin after Dug got banned.
