Legends are in official banlists (i.e. Battle Maison and Ranked Battlespot) and, at least in Gen 7, have a special Pokedex page with gold & rainbow colors and sparkles next to their name.

Sublegends aren't banned and have a green Pokedex page with smaller sparkles.

Both are guaranteed to have at least 3 perfect (31) IVs as of XY, which also means they can't legally have Hidden Power Fighting because it requires 4 even IVs.

Only the ones introduced in Gen 6 and 7 though, right? The others can be transferred.
