>>34444089Because people forget this game is supposed to be for kids, and because of it, it has to be simpler, easier, and hold your hand because new players can't fathom type advantages, special/physical split, pokemon types that we all have ingrained in our head.
I wanted to buy usum for my nephews that are 5 and 7, because at there age I was playing fen 1 and 2. But after going through the game, I can't do that, I found some parts difficult. Ultra necrozma is just flat out luck based unless you have the perfect team for it. So It is easy yet usum has some pretty hard parts if I had no knowledge of the game.
People always complained pokemon games were the same and had no story, so they finally give us some story games and people get pissy. The cutscenes are stupidly long in the beginning don't get me wrong, but you can't jump in the middle of a story and assume people to understand what's going on. Could they have made it less obtrusive, probably, but if you are going to complain there is no pokemon game, then Bitch you got one you don't like, that's not my problem.
Rivals are lackluster imo, gen 3 tried the friend rival and was ok. Gen 4 was a pseudo mix that just came off annoying. Gen 5 original triangle was nice, but b/w2 the rival was a whiney baby imo. Gen 6... That is all. And gen 7 he just had no character compared to lily or edge lord, and guzma for that matter in usum. Hau is pokemons modern spongebob, a creepily too positive person. And it fails because of this.
Age also destroys a lot of the fun because we know the formula, and we are ready for most things, you also can't say the aether foindation villian in s/m wasn't a bad twist? Just the end game of it was too weird.
