Z-moves is a very lazy mechanic that just skews the game more towards surprise factor and teambuilding skill rather than in-battle skill. If you're an ingame player only, they cheese that much harder than Megas ever did.

Regional formes was the only good new feature of Gen 7. The ONLY one. Think about how sad that is.

I agree about Megas > Z-moves. Made something like Manectric and Beedrill more viable and relevant again. There were definitely distribution problems (pseudos, legendaries), obvious favoritism (Charizard, Mewtwo), and balance issues (M-Kang), but I think if GF had continued with making Megas in Gen 7, we'd have seen more variety.

only Blaziken,Tyranitar and Garchomp didn't
but garchomp isn't very good these days and mega chomp had potential

I dislike both but megas had more effort put on them and had more potential.

Too bad that potential was wasted on shit that didn't need it like primals, Garchomp, Metagross and Salamence whose only purpose in existence was to raise the powercreep even further instead of adding more fun elements to battles.

Forgot to say, all megas whose abilities sums into "increases damage" are objectively awful.

The best ones complements the base pokemon's abilities such as Manectric and Sableye.
