Types like fighting and bug started getting better moves in gen 3 so the shitty ones that we already had fell into oblivion to never return and gamefreak seems to like it that way since they never seem to bring them up.
I might be wrong, but I'll stand by this until the day I see either submission, constrict or slam buffed.
