You know how Ice is pretty much Water's subtype, usually just there for helping it beat a lot of the things that are supposed to beat Water types?

Imagine Fire got one, to help it beat Water and Rock types. Would it be Sun type, or Lava type?

It would be Sun/Plasma type. Flames are gases let off by a reaction that still have enough energy to give off light. Plasma is a gas in which most of its composition is ionized, causing a release of light and heat. Plasma is somewhere between fire and electricity in that regard.

Grass, which takes extra damage from fire, and gets no boosts in the sun unless you count Chlorophyl and Solarbeam.

Sandstorm: Hurts everyone except ground, rock, and steel, and buffs one of them.

Hail: Hurts everyone except Ice-types

Rain: Ludicolo and Thunder

Sun: Shit, needs a buff

Fire and Electric type are as close as you're gonna get for a "Plasma" type because to them it's all the same. Seriously these are the same people that instead of "air" or "wind" gave us "flying"

Most grass type related abilities are buffed by sun
like harvest, leaf guard and Flower gift
it also buffs Growth as well

Wasn't OP asking for a type that basically just serves as coverage for Fire? Grass is that with the advent of Z-Power making Solar Beam coverage relevant.

Ninetails and Sawsbuck are a great combo, and then Choice band Darminitan and/or Choice Scarf Chandelure clean house should one of them falter.
