>>34451552As someone who played through and finished White, I absolutely loved Gen V. I feel like exposing you to only Gen V Pokémon the entire game was a brave decision that forced you to delve into the unknown and use Pokémon you'd never even heard of before rather than always fall back on the same familiar faces. The battles felt very kinetic due to the great-looking animated sprites, and I felt the move animations and SFX were particularly good in these games. The soundtrack is easily one of my favourites. And the world was just really varied and interesting, especially what with the unique season system giving everything a new aesthetic and feel every month. Gen V put up a decent challenge too, as the levels of trainer Pokémon ramped up quite rapidly, and early on in the game doubles grass can be pretty intimidating.
The main flaws were that some of the Gen V Pokémon designs were a little suspect (primarily owing to Unova's more urban aesthetic), the post-game felt a little weak as it was just a few extra routes with an insane level jump that you were disallowed from grinding the Elite Four to close, and the C-Gear was extremely boring and uninspired.
Gen V is definitely one of my favourite generations. Gives me a lot of cozy feels.
