I'm not new. I have just only started saving battle videos and actively using battlespot now. Because I only just now got gud.

Choosing Litten doesn't make the game shit itself.
The Move Tutor doesn't delete a move when teaching a move if your Pokemon only has three moves.

It's because battle videos aren't really videos, but more like a re-creation using the battle engine.

Replays in games are done by re-inputting every action and repeating the RNG done throughout the battle. It isn't a video. If they change anything in battle, due to the chance that it might mess with a Replay and cause it to act differently, compatibility is cut off between the updates.

Recording video files takes up a lot of data. And with a video also recording the time it takes to choose moves and animations to play out, such a system would be incredibly unwieldy. The games only have so much onboard memory. Simply recreating the battle in the system with notes on damage rolls and such is a lot simpler.
