Nothing besides the fact that they don't actively use the items in their everyday habitat. At least Oranguru have a reason to chuck balls at things because it fits with the "teacher" aspect. Plus those two are probably far too intelligent to care about instructing others.

What? Fucking no, those were two different sentences. I gave three reasons. They act like Pokémon trainers in the wild. Metagross don't go around training Pokémon or using balls
