Things like being anxious when dealing with customers was the start, but also the anxiety that comes from the thought of meeting with a potential employer and being a nervous wreck because you're worried about looking like a nervous wreck. How do you think they'll look at a 20-something year old's resume that shows they don't have any job experience? Even if they don't say it, we know they're thinking we're not worth the time.
Fragile self-esteem issues can also be a part of it. Things like being unable to handle rejection well really get in the way. There's not a day that goes by I don't feel like a piece of shit for living the way I do, but you can't just snap your fingers and wish anxiety away.
