It's not supposed to be completely offensive. Even though it doesn't kill everything in one hit, it can tank hits better than the majority of Normal types of the game (with the only exception of Furfrou, Blissey and Lickilicky, who aren't faster than it).

Once you get access to Mega Stones, after getting Lopunnite, the rematch against the Elite Four and the rest of the region will be definitely better.

I used one in Platinum. In that time it wasn't as overclassed as it is today, but still not as bad as its stats imply ingame.

I had the exact opposite experience. I thought Lopunny was hot garbage then I used it in USUM and it's pretty good. Return + Jump Kick (later Hi Jump Kick) was a powerhouse for the whole game.

Liepard is fucking garbage ingame. It only gets Pursuit until level 31, where it gets Assurance. Patrat and Lillipup get both Bite and Crunch and are better Dark types than the actual Dark type.

Oh, Sandygast is fucking horrible too. I got one in a Nuzlocke and was not sad when it died really quickly. Shit moves, shit stats, shit typing, evolves extremely late, etc. Ghost just isn't good in Alola. Decidueye really suffers from this. Eviolite Dartrix sounds like it would be almost better because Dark mons and Dark moves are all over the fucking place.

For Ultra Sun, I though Jnyx would be a good addition to my team offensively due to Ice/Psychic typing with 95 speed. But that same typing plus only 35 defense, made sure I didn't keep it for long.

Caught this handsome guy on Route 2, used him as long as I could.

But basically all I've been using him for is tossing in against a Totem, lowering its attack, using Glare, and then watching him die. It'd be better if Arbok had a better STAB move before late-game. He's just not making it through the mid-game.

Tsareena is pretty good though. Priority immunity, faster than Decidueye. Fighting coverage is far superior in-game than ghost.
Plus in USUM you get Z-Bounce and Power Whip.

Boxed mine and Decidueye is still around, somehow. It was cool finding one so early, and this time I picked a team of unused Pokemon. My team was half water, Magnezone was begging for seconds, plus 12 new bros on the road... Nah, Emboar and Samurott still hold up. Emboar does have stiff Fire and Fighting competition though, whereas Samurott is one of surprisingly few decent Water types in Unova. Samurott is my favourite mon but it has also never disappointed me and I've used it several times.

Serperior isn't great, but lategame Coil is pretty fun. Much like Meganium, it's more a match up issue.

It's also decently bulky, and has mixed stats so it's easy to use. It can even use waterfall and surf well so you don't need to dedicate an HM slave to that.
I love Serperior, but it's just... bad. When you have Lilligant available, using Serperior for anything except its design just makes no sense. It's not even a good tank.
Emboar surprised me. There's really not a lot of good fire types in BW1, so it doesn't hurt. BW2 had way more options, so Emboar isn't as good there when you can get Arcanine.

So I ran with Magnebrone in Sun and holy shit was it my comedy relief Pokémon. It didn't have Sturdy so if it was a super effective or STAB neutral move it died in a drastic fashion.

On the other hand, Salazzle performed so well I'm using her in my Ultra Sun run. Sorry Magnezone, if I could tell my past self to keep you on Eviolite I would.

This fucker. I had 5 other guys to pick up the slack and it wasn't a big deal since Sun is pretty simple, but it contributed pretty much nothing to any battle.

Other shitty pokemon I was stupid enough to try to use in game:
>Fucking Dusknoir (Alpha Sapphire)
This shit was a goddamn ordeal. Its entire movepool is ass. Its best STAB is fucking Shadow Punch. It had no HP at all. It was awful.
>Luxray in Diamond
Its only two moves are Crunch and Spark. That's it. Not to mention its abyssal speed. Thank god I had Alakazam and Staraptor picking up the slack

Servine was shitty in Black 2, but that was the first and only gamer where I abandoned my starter as soon as it was convenient for me. I just started Blaze Black so maybe that'll be a more fun experience

Aurorus is probably one of the worst Ice Type to ever exist, Even the Ice Cream is better then this. it's slow, it's got 6 weaknesses two of which are 4x, only stats over 100 is HP, and it doesn't even learn Power Gem wtf. the only thing good about it is it's okay movepool.

In game, it pales in comparison to Hawlucha. However, it is a perfectly viable mon throughout the game. I would suggest using one with Thick Fat to get a bit more balk against Fire and Ice moves, which are surprisingly common.

Primeape is also surprisingly good in game with high speed and respectable attack. It also gets some decent moves from level-up and TMs.

My Butterfree. Owned Hala - wiped his whole team without a sweat. Destroyed Totem Araquanid. Was overall a fantastic team member for the entire first 2 islands. But once I got to the third island, I just started finding new and better Pokemon and narrowed down my previous set of about 10 Pokemon down to 6-8 and Butterfree didn't make the cut. She was great though.

on S/M I dropped it fast, but on USUM I went for the rematch and breeded one with the bold ditto you get in koni koni city, maxed its HP And DEF EVs on the pokepelago and then the motherfucker started tanking even super-effective physical dark attacks like a boss once it evolved, one of the most fun mons I have trained so far.

It does as inkay, but foul play at level 8 actually makes it pretty tolerable. an early game 95 base stat move that calculates based on the opponents attack. Basically hits most things for good damage up until the point it learns it's own stab moves and turns into an allrounder that provides team support in screens and topsy turvy. Would highly recommend. Twisted spoon psycho cut hits pretty hard too.

I ran with Rowlet and had no issue with him in Sun. Ran with Popplio in Ultra Moon, but that thing makes the game way too easy for me honestly. I'd rather have Lopunny by my side, even if it's not exactly the strongest mon out there for that balance of not too easy but not too tough either.

I didn't know you could access the area to evolve him, just knew lanikala was final area and didn't think to check the area before hand to level him up there. since I didn't evolve clefairy until it got moonblast, it meant basically half my team was nfe which made stuff like shady house guzma scary.

I used this piece of shit in my Black run and holy shit was it bad. For reference, the only fire move it has until level 22 is Incinerate, which has only 30 base power in Gen V. Holy shit it was so bad, it was struggling against stuff that it even had the type advantage over. Hitting only 1/4 of their health, assuming the hit was super effective. Worse yet, It didn't get a better fire move until level 22, which meant I either would get it AFTER the bug gym, where I would actually want to use it, or I would have to grind if I wanted to flame burst some bugs.

Once it got an actual decent fire move, it was a little more tolerable, but monkeys aren't that great anyway, so it still died pretty easy and didn't contribute much.

I used a Panpour in a later run, which has the slightly stronger water gun instead, and holy shit, I never would have thought 10 extra base power would make so much of a difference.

Yeah Darmanitan is the go to fire type in BW1, or Chandelure if you wait a little longer.
Panpour is the best of the three for early use unless you pick up Tympole or picked Oshawott. Swanna is shit, and you can't get Jellicent for a bit. I guess there's Tirtouga but do people really pick that over Archen?
Pansage is the worst. When you have Lilligant, Whimsicott, Maractus and even Leavanny and Deerling, there's no reason to keep it on the team.

If you have good IV's/don't have a nature that fucks you up, you're gonna be fine. Mine had a -Def + Atk nature and it still could take a hit or two. I had Rash. It was amazing once it got in a battle, but it was really hard bringing it in considering it had no special bulk whatsoever. This meant I barely used it after it evolved, whereas Charjabug was legit for ages, even without the Eviolite. Vikavolt's not awful but it's kind of like Rampardos where it's cripplingly overspecialised.

I used one. It fell off in usefulness around Aether Paradise since its low speed meant that it was taking chip damage from every fight and I kept having to heal the fat fuck, and it takes him a long time to learn a better STAB move than Force Palm and Brick Break. But it learns some really useful moves fairly early, like Smack Down and Knock Off for type coverage. It can even learn Poison Jab through a TM, though you get it very late. If you give it the Expert Belt, there won't be a whole lot it can't one-shot. It's a worthwhile Mon to train, but it's likely that he won't be the star of your team.

But god damn why can't heracross learn x-scissor at least. Close Combat, brick break and fucking aerial ace were the only useful attacks it learned, it didn't even make it to lvl 55 to learn megahorn.

Inkay/Malamar have lousy stats, but a phenomenal move pool. I cleaned house using Swagger followed by Foul Play for some massive damage, and if boosting the opponent's ATK was too risky, I would use Topsy Turvy after their confusion wore off to make their damage plummet and switch out. And then there's the fact that Topsy Turvy itself absolutely destroys Totem Pokemon by reversing their Aura Boost.

I didn't think much of Inkay before USUM, but now he's one of my bros for life. And it seems like a lot of other people feel the same way.

In my Black playthrough years ago I got this guy along with pretty much every other pokemon in the desert. It wasn't so much that he was bad in his own right, but he got outclassed pretty hard by Scrafty and Excadrill, so I ended up ditching him shortly after he evolved.

If smogonfags were actually good at the games then they would be able to play against anything thrown at them. It's quite a bit bulkier physically, and has a marginally better movepool (Brick Break, Sludge Bomb, Dig) at the cost of no Earthquake. (But there are better recipients of earthquake than Sharpedo anyways).
