A while ago, there was a test screening for an upcoming Pokémon movie and in the movie, Pikachu spoke English at one point, which caused the audience to shit themselves with rage.

Why were they so mad though? If Team Rocket's Meowth could learn human language to impress some female Meowth, is it really that farfetched to assume that any Pokémon could learn to speak human language, including Pikachu?

Because it was a cheap grab at feels. Pikachu talked in Pokespeak all these years and the one feels moment and all of a sudden the fuck can speak in human language before going right back to Pokespeak. In Meowth's case, his learned speech is stapled throughout his entire existence, its what makes his character. Pikachu is the dipshit deuteragonist and because of that any extra emphasis on him is cheap and emotion grabbing

A faggot op who cares about the audience being mad. Pikachu and Pokemon was part of there childhood. So seeing pikachu talking might have effected that. I personally never cared about ashime. So y'all fags can cry about it

*Meowth put in time and effort to learn human language, and gave up the ability to evolve. Pikachu just...Did it once, in perfect English, and afterwards forgot how to again.

*The line itself didn't make sense. He doesn't want to get in his Pokéball because he wants to be with Ash forever? He also didn't want to get into his Pokéball with Oak.

*It sounded more like it was the feverish hallucination of a dying Ash. Like he was just imagining what he'd want his pet to tell him in the seconds before he irrevocably dies. One article I read compared it to imagining that your cat tells you that it loves you moments before you die and it starts eating your corpse.

*The movie itself was also really bad. It felt rushed and the characterization of the characters didn't contribute to the movie. Like, the flash back to that one guy's Luxray dying, then everyone is all 'oh wow that's awful, welp let's continue adventuring and never mention it again'.

I watched this movie last weekend and I still can't get over how fucking bad it was. I mean, I'm not expecting great movies from Pokémon, but this wasn't even mediocre. It was shameless nostalgia bait.

If anything you're right on the rushed part. I hated it cause it was a lazy mashup of the first few episode arcs mixed in with Gen 7. Marshadow made no fucking sense, Cross made no fucking sense, and there's some weird emphasis shift change between char and pikachu. One moment the spotlight is on pikachu and its bond with ash, the next its on charmander or zard because the drama needs to be force fed

I’m guessing it probably sounded a lot better in Japanese since Pikachu’s actual voice actress could have voiced those lines as well. It was kinda weird in English. It would have gone over a lot better if they simply added subtitles to indicate Ash can understand what Pikachu is saying.
