I love Serperior from a design standpoint, snakes are just awesome. I loved Arbok, Seviper, Milotic, and ect. Serperior was a welcome edition. Too bad she'sso mediocre. Gen 2 starters are still worse though, maybe Serperior will get a cool mega that will give her Dark typing or something unique and cool.

If you're trying to use the fucking anime as a counterpoint. Ash catches all three starters and the one he evolves is Chikorita, who is easily the least popular no matter what way you look at it.

The same thing happens in gen 3, Swampert is the most popular because mudkip memes and Blaziken too because its a fire/Fighting, yet they push Sceptile in the anime because they always want ash to have the speed starter.

Feraligatr IS the most popular johto starter in most areas you go to and is generally the best pick for a playthrough as well in both HGSS and GSC because of its accessibility to ice moves and surf.

The only delusion here seems to be yours anon

Typhlosion is MILES more popular then Feraligatr is; and im speaking as a massive gatrfag. Image has a few polls I easily dug up if you want that, but Typhlosion gets MUCH more artwork then Feraligatr does if you want even more comparison.
Easy reason? Typhlosion has fur, and its a fire type living off of Charizard. Feraligatrs design has nothing over the same type. This makes Typhlosion incredibly popular with furfags.
I think what you might be thinking is this: oldfags (GSC) tend to like Feraligatr more, while newfags (HGSS) ran with Typhlosion, and they are much more rampant these days.

Just because they advertised like that in the manga and anime doesn't mean it was advertised differently in the core games.

That also has nothing to do with a pokemons popularity. Sceptile was shilled in the anime, but it was the least popular Hoenn starter.

By water type Charizard I also meant the fact that its also a lizard and learns stuff like Dragon Dance, claw moves, and fangs.

Feraligatr was always more popular than Typhlosion.

Feraligatr has nostalgia since I used it when I first played Gold version as a kid, but I only really picked it because it was the water starter and Blastoise was my bro back in Red version. I really liked Meganium as my starter when I played Soul Silver as an adult.
