>>34489839>Things Pokemon has done right and better than other franchises- Shilling: In the first weeks after Ruby and Sapphire were released, Treecko was the most chosen starter, but everything changed after the Ashnime shown May's Torchic and TPC started making more marketing for Torchic than the other two starters.
And with the time, they buffed Torchic line to make it better than the other 2: In Gen 4 the Physical/Special split was a great buff for Blaziken and Swampert, the same thing can't be said for Sceptile, which got more Physical moves and Focus Miss; Gen 5 introduced HA, many Pokémon got useful Abilities, but of all Pokémon, Blaziken got Speed Boost, an Ability often given to shitmons but fuck that they gave it to a good sweeper of all Pokémon, while Sceptile and Swampeet got Unburden and Damp respectiblely; Gen 6 introduced Mega Evolutions, Blaziken's Mega kept Speed Boost but heavily buffed its Attack, Sp. Attack, and Speed, while Sceptile got Lightning Rod (who will attack with an Electric-type move to a Grass-type? It also MUST lose a turn to Mega Evolve) and 110 Attack, 145 to its Sp. Attack and Speed, Swampert got more bulk and Swift Swim (is much better than Lightning Rod to a Grass-type, because it can set Rain by itself).
Blaziken would not be one of the most recognized Gen 3 Pokémon if it wasn't because Game Freak shilled it like there wasn't tomorrow, even Masuda itself said that he asked Nintendo to make a Torchic-like Game Boy Advance SP.
