Personally I would:
>Combine Rock and Ground and call it Earth
>Rename Grass to Plant
>Rename Steel to Metal
>Rename Flying to Wind
>Gives buffs to the pokemon that actually need them
>Include an option to skip tutorials
>Include the option to skip cutscenes
>Add a difficulty option with New Game +
>Add more Megas + regular evolutions
>Buff pokemon that actually need them
>Fix starter gender ratio
>Redesign the ugly af Master Ball
>Bring back following Pokemon
>Bring back the Refresh mini games
>Stop excluding content to push out a "third" version a year later
>Fix the 3d model (ie the washed out colors and better poses)
>Early route trainers have at least 3 pokemon, and everyone has 5 or more midway through the game
>Less hand-holding in general
>Let us choose the age (or I guess "body type") of our main character. With that said more customization options for trainers and pokemon.
