The entire site is a noob trap because the strategy dex doesn't update often enough to accurately describe the meta, the strategy Dex is written with an air of optimism, rarely ever describing Pokemon as unviable (the strategy dex tries to portray Deoxys-N in a good light as slightly viable while explicitly stating not to use Deoxys-D for instance), the actual viability rankings are in the forums rather than the strategy dex, and the viability rankings and the usage stats aren't directly accessible from Showdown's home page. And Smogon wonders why there's such a huge discrepancy between top and bottom of ladder usage stats when THEIR OWN strategy dex portrays the Pokemon they describe as unviable as if they're good.

The leaders for the tiers have no clue what they’re on about. Accepted sample teams are decided by people who rarely play the game anymore as they have to constantly monitor threads/chat. The mods on showdown are some of the worst on the internet who all circle jerk each other. There’s way too much hax to make the game consistent at high levels of play. Finally the Tapus and UB’s completely destroyed the OU meta and as such all metas below it
