>>34516044Games prior to the DS Era prove they can make a railroaded, or at least semi-railroaded experience without constantly forcing you in the direction they want you to go from the second you leave your house to the second you finish the postgame's bonus episode, or at least they mask it to a point where you aren't getting blatantly handheld throughout the whole thing and the sense of adventure is still there.
GameFreak could do literally ANYTHING with the fat stacks of cash they have, but they know that just having the Pokemon Logo on a mainline game is enough to instantly print over a million in sales regardless of the game's actual content, but they've grown complacent from that knowledge and refuse to do any better.
And they won't do any better until the sales start dropping or another competitor like Youkai Watch manages to "steal" their audience for a little while, but that won't ever happen again unless Dragon Quest Monsters starts making Bi-Yearly Releases that aren't remakes.
