Yea some shinies were really fucked by 3D models. A prime example would be Drapion. I remember when I saw how they fucked up Drapion's shiny how mad I was I still am really.

It depends on who the parent is. From what I've read, if the parent is a male Nidoran/Nidorino/Nidoking, the offspring is always going to be a male Nidoran.

You're right about that. It just seems that the odds roll towards the male, regardless if I'm breeding for a female. I can't find any information online about specific breeding with Nidoran female and a shiny Ditto in Gen 2 and the certainty of obtaining a female.

Are you getting any female bunnies at all?
It's been forever since I bothered with Gen II breeding mechanics,
but I think gender was mostly based on Attack IVs (low > girl, high > boy)
No clue how this works for the Nidos, but maybe you just have shit luck.

You should never ever transfer shinies from gen 1-5 to 6 or above, the odds in the older gens make them infinitely more valuable. If you transfer say a shiny Giraina from 4 to 6 everyone's gonna think you caught it with the piss easy 1:1024 chance.

I've been getting females when i breed with Nido-F, but only the males have been shining. I may just catch a bunch of females and experiment. It's the only Gen 1 Pokemon I need outside of legends (birds and Mew).

I got to a chain of 255 with mareep last night to no avail with the shiny charm. currently at 193 with buneary and i am losing hope. Here is my current strategy:

>Decidueye with false swipe
>adrenaline orb
>knocking out every called buneary, killing original caller every 30 or so buneary so that it doesnt knock itself out with struggle
>leppa berry or adrenaline orb to pass the turn if call wasnt successful

am i doing something wrong? from what i remember this is how i did it in sun and managed like 5 different shinies at highest chain like 84

I've gone over 255 SOSing for Cubone on 3 separate occasions. It's the only shiny Alola mon I'm lacking that has the highest call rate.

Btw I checked my clock in the activity log and hunting Nihilego took 45 hours(both of them) while Pheromosa a bit over 20. So how is that in terms of luck? Hopefully Celesteela won't take much longer though as long as sync works I wouldn't mind if it takes more. And in terms of ball Premier is the way to go right?

I personally catch all my stuff in timer balls (liked the animation way better pre gen vii though) unless something looks way better in specific balls
salamance always goes in great ball, shiny hydreigon in dusk ball, etc

I lost count a long time ago, but I've been at this pretty much since people first figured out it was possible so you can imagine. I kind of went crazy for shiny hunting in gen 6 because of the doubled odds and shit like the Safari and chain fishing, so this hunt kind of took a backseat for a while. I honestly expected it to be the last shiny for my living dex so I'm amazed it only took this long.

In gen 6 legit you don't need a charm. Your odds are better than in gen 7.
If you want to hunt in gen 7 I suggest you complete it might take 1-2 days but since there isn't a national dex it shouldn't be too hard

I've never hunted anything without a 50/50 rate, but I think if the swapped in Salandit shiny egg was male, you could just reset and swap in another pokemon that doesn't have to be a specific gender. You WOULD however, have to hatch again and hope for a female, but you'd still come out of it one usable shiny more.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong

I'm doing a nuzlocke-esque run in SS using drastic on my phone, can only catch the first pokemon I run into after getting a badge w/ permanent randomizer. Now, I've only played to GenIV and I don't have the slightest clue about V and onwards, what's the go-to way for shiny hunting? I used to autistically grind for shinies with pokeradar but apparently there's no such thing in HGSS, am I stuck with the regular 1/8000 (aka fucking impossible) chance?

I thought that the Karp swapping method only worked for Pokemon of that specific gender ratio. I don't think it works with Salandit.

The way i'm picturing it, a female Karp rolls a 1-5 and a male one rolls a 6-10. A female salandit would roll a 1-2, so if your female karp rolled a 1, swapping it would get a female salandit.

In Gen V, there's a dark grass mechanic that allows you to encounter two wild Pokemon at once. That's the...way in Unova.
