Could be better. I hate that you still have to trade with someone else, even though the game says that you can catch all the legendaries.
Also, tired of waiting for the game when all pokemon will be available and several worlds can be visited. Silver and Gold is as far as they went unfortunately.

It's almost the same as SM which are by a far the worst games in the series, even worse than XY.
The game itself is basically a 5-10$ DLC for SM but comes at full price because the idiots at Gamefreak think that its a full new game.

SM=40$
DLC=10$
USUM=40$
SM+DLC=USUM 40+10=50$
SM+USUM=80$

Who needs Battle Frontier in the day and age of online play? Plus, USUM has the better BF facility, the Battle Factory. So there is absolutely no need for that garbage.

SM's plot was better. USUM did an awkward job at rewriting the story to accommodate Necrozma and shift focus away from Lillie/Lusamine/Nihilego (which already had its own problems).
A lot of the dialogue in general was less entertaining, like Lana's and Kiawe's. Plus the entire removal of the Looker-Nanu-Anabel subplot.

Gameplay wise it was pretty good, the Totems were all great, Mina's trial was pretty good as a closer, and it did up the challenge a bit in general. I really appreciated Mt. Lanakila's overhaul. As well as general QOL improvements like being able to evolve Crabrawler and Charjabug before end game. I really enjoyed Mantine surfing and tutors being available all throughout the game, too.
The wormhole mini-game is painful, though. Not fun to play and mired with RNG.

I'll add that the games are still unfortunately absolutely swamped in cut-scenes which hurts them.
GF really needs to find a better medium between having a narrative and having a game that doesn't get interrupted every five seconds to show the player an obvious gameplay mechanic or add pointless dialogue.
