gen 1, its shitty special held it back as it was killed easily. Also had a GARBAGE movepool. Literally a bunch of Normal moves and Submission
gen 2, Heracross became a thing, wich was better than Pinsir in every possible way. Movepool still garbage, completely reliant on HP Bug
Gen 3, it finally started getting some moves, but you know, still outclassed by Heracross
Gen 4 and 5 finally gave it some much needed abilities and reliable STAB.
And now here we are with Mega Pinisr. Pinsir got small buffs throughout the generations but what it really needed was to stop being a bargin bin version of an existing Pokemon, and Mega Pinisr was that one thing.
