Hello /vp/.

This is my first time creating a competitive team and I was wondering, which weather is relatively superior/better/worse?

I'm guessing Hail is the best lately because of Auroral Veil, but Brick Break that shit.

Let's discuss weather and Pokemon.

Make a Rain team. They are super fun because they make shitmons like Kingdra, Kabutops, Omastar, and Qwilfish good somehow. You just need Politoes/Pelipper, mega Swampert, and a bunch of random Swift Swim/Thunder users. Use Mega Swampert with Waterfall, Earthquake, Power up Punch, and Ice Punch. It's super fun, and the main threat of your team.

Sun Teams are okay but they only really work if you got Venusaur (not mega Venusaur, regular, it has Chlorophyll.

Aurora Veil isn't really a team, you just use it to setup you sweeper/Wallbreaker and go rape the world. You don't really need to plan your whole team around hail, just two pokemon, your Veil Setter and your setup guy.

Also, Brick Break is kind of bad, but idiots put it on fucking everything for some reason.

Thanks for this. I really wanted to go for sand but Rain has Ludicolo and I can still use Steel Types.

Sand is really niche and not that good.

Ferrothorn is really good on Rain Teams. Back in gen-6 when Azumarill was everywhere Ferrothorn was practically required because Azu gave rain so much trouble. Scizor does well on Rain teams as a defogger too, but don't use your mega slot on it (Save that for Swampert)

No, that's a bad idea because it makes your Fire Blasts weaker. You want Hurricane spam you go with something that can get STAB on it. Good Hurricane guys for rain teams are Tornadus (either version works fine, but genie form has more power so I'd go with that one), Pelipper, and Noivern.

Tornadus has the extra bonus of having Prankster, so it can use Priority Rain Dance. Pelipper's good too because it can also get rain going with its Drizzle ability. Noivern is nice because Infiltrator lets it hit through substitutes in case some idiot tries to use substitute or something. All 33 work nice, Noivern is a little low on power so it might need Choice specs to keep up the damage.

Rain is king and the only pure weather team still around. Use a Tapu+Hawlucha core can help with some troublesome matchups if you want. If you want weather play Rain.

Hail is just Aurora Veil. Veil is a fun team but it's not much of a "weather" team. Hail as a weather is bad besides Veil.

Sun used to be good but is kinda bad now. The setters are bad, SR weakness hurts, and you don't get the raw power of Rain. You could try ZardY+Venusaur if you want.

Sand, like Hail, isn't a full team due to weaknesses. Sand teams are just Ttar+Rush Drill. Both have good synergy and Rush Drill can clean lategame. Nothing else is that good with sand, though ironically ZardY is decent due to resetting the weather and synergizing with Ttar well.

It's bad because Charizard-Y is the only viable drought user. Mostly because two fire types on one team is a no-no but also because Torkoal and Ninetales are mediocre. Unlike Politoed and Pelipper who both are usable and overall good Pokemon. That's why mega Houndoom gets left in the dust because it requires too much support.

Rain is the best, I've been a Rainfag since XY and have dabbled in all the other weather types. I'm confident it's the best and will continue to be the best until Gamefreak introduces some better Drought users for sun, nerfs Lando-T or gives sand users a hard counter to it, and then makes Ice type less shit for hail teams.

Mega Houndoom is fine without sun, it has the power and speed to make things work because it has Nasty Plot, you just need a good way to switch it in against something it checks so you have a turn to use NP. Slow U-Turn and Volt Switch guys help with it. Good partners for this are Scizor, most Rotom forms, Magearna, and Magnezone/Magneton. you can laso take advantage of base form Houndoom's Flash Fire ability and try to bait opponents into using a Fire Move it can switch in on by luring them out with a Grass or Steel type.

It outspeeds a lot of stuff and hits harder than most people think. It's perfectly fine without the sun. Solar Power is kind of a bad ability anyway.

Volcarona is good as a check to rain when you're on sun teams by wasting a slot on hurricane. its not too good.

There are some chucklefucks who think a rain team means every pokemon needs to directly benefit from rain. They are fucking idiots who should be ignored. They just need to be pokemon who are not hindered by the rain.

If you're talking about Singles 6v6, partial rain is the best. All others are shite.

If you're talking about VGC/Doubles, don't use weather. Flowchart against it.
