Changelings and doppelgangers are a kind of fairy, if you had bothered to do your research.

On the other hand, it hardly looks like a fairy at all design-wise, and I'd preffer pure ghost or ghost/normal, but STAB play rough is good enough for me not to care. It's basically the same situation as azumarill, where there's absolutely no way it isn't pure water, yet the easter bunny motif and STAB huge power play rough make menot care as much.

mimikyu isn't based on doppelgangers but on kids wearing white sheets during halloween to dress up as ghosts. zoroark or ditto might be based on doppelgangers, if anything. mimikyu is not a replica but a ghostly pikachu wannabe (literally).

this one bothers me a bit. there's nothing wrong with it's type combination I mean it makes sense but they missed a great opportunity to give us a fairy/poison or fairy/dark pokemon, I would've used the shit out of those

I know pokemon players hate grass/fighting types but this is definitely one. it's stated in all her pokedex entries that she loves fighting physically with her legs and that her kicks are killer
also we need more feminine fighting types

Agreed, and you could roll in Rolling Kick or Double Kick for some fighting type move representations, and maybe Blaze Kick as an egg move? If you make her a grass / field egg group member.

because Pokemon can only be one thing and never a combination of things the would never make a pokemon based on multiple things at once

I dont understand why they didnt do this. I know theyre not unique typings but why make the pseudo of the first game with a new type NOT the new type?
TTar is Dark. Metagross came out right after with a Steel type...

I know pokemon are only loosely based on stuff sometimes but nothing about mimikyu indicates it's based on a doppelganger. doppelgangers are exact replicas of another person's appearance. mimikyu is literally just dressing up as pikachu, if anything it's a pokemon trying to act as a doppelganger while not fooling anyone, which would be an extremely convoluted reasoning

I'm the one debating that anon's post but he's definitely right about pokemon being based on a bunch of things at the same time. Venusaur for example is a prehistoric animal + a real life plant. Delphox is based on a fennec fox + a witch. Primarina is based on a seal + a mermaid + an opera singer.

you're right about Goodra, I can see a dragon/poison type in it but personally I believe it would've been perfect as a dragon/bug type. yeah I know gastropods aren't insects but it has the stickiness thing going for it and the bug eyes as well. dragon/fairy or dragon/water would've been nice as well.

It got Dragon typing because Kalos is France and French folklore has a fucking snail dragon. Instead of fixing the type, its design should be fixed to at least have a shell.
