back when they came out you would just trade from someone's R/B/Y for them, and there aren't that many pokemon that need them in the main game.

Fortunately, in Crystal, you instead need to just keep playing the game indefinitely until RNG rolls in your favor and you get a call to go talk to somebody you've totally forgotten to get an evolutionary stone. WOW

I'm going to play VC Blue, VC Silver, US, and then Crystal when it finally comes out just so I can keep things fresh. Gens 1 and 2 aren't as linear as later games, so you can do things like fight the gyms in a different order each time you play.

In Crystal you can get a potentially-shiny Celebi and play through the Battle Tower with Gen 2 mechanics, which is kinda fun. Unless you really like playing around with glitches and/or are a diehard Gen 2 fanboy, skip G/S and wait for Crystal.
