Is there any way to make sure that this guy gets 15 Def and 0 Speed IVs?

You find them right before the Battle Tree, so I can't check their IVs until after I already captured them...

I wouldnt know the meta enough to give a suggestion. It is only a meme set due to the wonky specifics of the EVs and IVs needed, elsewise it is very good.

But for all intents and purposes, injecting seems the only sane way to get it specifically 15 Def 0 Spe.

If you kill them they can still be captured later. So knock them out and go unlock the IV guy.

There isn't anything wonky about those EVs or IVs. Stakataka's defense is so high you have to cripple it with 15 IVs and a negative nature in order to get an attack beast boost for the trick room set to function correctly, and the trick room set is Stakataka's best choice since otherwise, its poor defensive typing, low HP and Speed hinders it horribly.

Run from them until the URS leaves the area. This will allow you to continue to the battle tree. But Stakataka will continue to spawn until you catch 2.

Speed is right but def should be 240, but unfortunately even that's a coin flip, on 61 (assuming no defense EVs) you better hope you see 243

I don't get the 15 specifically, at 0 and with the negative nature its defense go to 194, which is still ridiculous high, but lower than the max attack of 201
so wouldn't anything below 15 also work? so it doesn't sound so bad to try and soft reset for that

15 is the highest it can be while not boosting defence. It's just optimising, anything below 15 can work but you want 15.

i think 15 only matters when it's level 100, for ingame facilities at level 50 i believe 16-17 is optimal
