The leak literally said the plot was something along the lines of "tradition vs innovation". The first gen 7 leak said that too with Pokemon +/-.

I'm 99% sure those rumors/leaks are all bullshit but hypothetically if Pokemon were to go down that route I would just be done with the franchise. I'd probably older gens and on Pokemon Showdown, I hate Showdown but that'd be the only place I'd be able to get my fix for battling.
