>>34553222It's okay. Replayed BW1 the other day since it's always been my favorite, and wow are the characters and story kinda shit. They were too afraid to make Ghetsis someone who could efficiently trick and manipulate anyone who is not retarded. Kinda hard to believe anyone would follow him when every gym leader is calling him out on how evil he is. He has a robot eye, and literally is written to stammer and correct himself to look less evil. It's actually kind of sad how much of a copout he's written to be.
The sages were there. They did nothing.
Cheren is a bigger pain in the ass than I remember. Bianca is actually the slightly better character. Cheren isn't XY or SM levels, but he's kind of just a little bitch about everything and his arc isn't interesting.
Alder sucks. Interesting potential in his backstory, but it's only revealed in a throwaway line by Ghetsis and then never again. He doesn't have much presence. I guess he has more presence than Diantha, but barely.
N is actually still pretty interesting. He's more autistic than I remember. But again the story and his motives fall flat because the truth and ideals motif the games are trying to implement aren't used well. They're barely there. But N is naive and a weirdo, and literally retarded, so him being led astray by Ghetsis is at least believable.
BW2's story is shit, too, but since I didn't play it as much the first time the second run through has been pretty fun.
Yeah. BW1's story is definitely bad. It has potential though so I'm excited to see it get remade and hopefully fixed by people who know basic writing.
