There's no point in Ash traveling through Kanto again just like there is no point in going to Kanto again in the games when the most recent games have ALL the most important Kanto aspects (champions/protagonist/rival, evil team, all legendaries, all starters, most of kanto Pokemon)

GF knows that the main selling point for new generations are new Pokemon, new world, new characters, new mechanics and new lore
Remakes/nostalgia trips also have their place in the series but not as the main attraction
