I haven't played any new pokemon game since ORAS, and i haven't looked up hardly anything about Sun and moon (are they a new generation)
I played the 3ds demo and hated it, are the actual games good?

If so, recommend me a team to use

Get Ultra Sun and Moon, they're the third versions of Sun and Moon and add some more content. Overall they're not the best but rank up there with the other third versions like Emerald and Platinum.

Demos for Pokemon games are only intended to show you how the game looks. It's a JRPG, you can't put the fun part of it in a 30-minute demo

USM added more content and fixed some of the minor problems but failed in fixing the major problems, just like Platinum.

Emerald did the same but there weren't any major problems with RB. It's just that they're too outdated now, mainly the lack of a physical/special split

Ultra S&M is adequate. I wouldn't compare it to Emerald or especially Platinum on a positive note. There was only one year difference between the base game and its upgrade in a day and age where patching and DLC exists, and not all of the changes made are for the better. If you were unfavorable of ORAS you probably won't think much of gen 7 either. That said, the inverse isn't necessarily true either.

That's my take. If you ask for an opinion here, you're going to get a lot of exaggerrated bias or flat-out lies, this goes positive and negative but mostly negative. Do a bit of research to see if you're interested. Watch some gameplay videos, preferrably without commentary so someone else doesn't try to influence your perception.

Platinum and Emerald is literally 90% same game.
USUM is not 90% same game. Changed totems.
158 sidequests added, more postgame added, changed endgame with Necrozma, Mina is now more involved than ever. Rainbow Rocket.

Face it, USUM did more than Platinum and Emerald. Your nostalgia is blinding you.
