>>34564840I'll say, I absolutely loved that they included this scene. The Striaton/Shadow Triad theory was always so obviously implausible. The only real evidence for it was that there were three of each. And Cilan's prominence in the anime should have cut it off right there - they'd never have one of Ash's friends turn out to be evil. It's not that kind of series. Like, I get that it was fun to speculate about, but nobody should have ever taken this theory seriously.
So I really appreciated that in B/W2, they went out of their way to include a scene decisively disproving it. They could have easily just ignored the theory, but instead they basically went "no, that's fucking stupid, here's what we think of your idiotic headcanon." It was kind of a nice little "fuck you" to people who overthink these things.
