Gender differences never entirely died, they just got downplayed.

>Gen 5: Unfezant and Frillish/Jellicent
>Gen 6: Pyroar and Meowstic
>Gen 7: Salazzle technically counts as a gender difference since male Salandit can't evolve

They just started doing a few major gender differences instead of a bunch of minor ones.

Exactly. The subtle differences are dead, and the number of pokemon with drastic gender differences has been decreasing with each gen.

They should focus on making Wormadam good before they make more cloaks. Even with it's gimmick, Wormadam is easily one of the most forgettable Pokemon because even with three different forms, and an opposite gender evolution, it doesn't even stick out.
