I could see Blacephalon and Tangrowth in UU next gen. The former is too frail and gets walled by water types quite easily even if they aren't bulky, while the latter is outclassed by Mega Venusaur and Bulu.

with the power creep of this gen there isn't much you can do to fix garchomp at this point, doing anything to his mega evo wont help because its objectively worse with the speed drop. no matter what gen 8 brings there's gonna be yet another power creep regardless so there's that to factor as well

No, it was banned last gen too when people figured out it can go mixed and it was deemed too strong a wallbreaker. I remember because I used it as a win condition on an extremely obnoxious semi-stall team and has to re-do it after Salamence was banned but it just wasn't the same.

To be fair, Nasty Plot would probably break Mega Gengar. With Shadow Tag it could set up on a defensive Pokemon that can't threaten it, like Toxapex or Chansey, and the opponent could only watch.

Gengar already got punished for Mega Gengar being broken.
I'm convinced that they took levitate from it because they wanted Mega Gengar to no longer be able to safely switch into earthquake before mega evolving.

OU is a 6v6 single battle format, so the single target thing doesn't matter in the slightest.
And Ground without an immunity is and has always been fucking terrifying. An auto-Gravity Ground-type would be similarly busted.
