In X and Y (and I suppose in newer ones I aint gonna buy shit) you can tap a pokemon in your party or PC to have them play one out of 2 different animations

I just found this out and it blew me away. wonder what else I've been missing from old games. anything /vp/ can add to the list?

How do people not know things this simple? Random shitmons you get have them highlighted, they're for telling what IVs something has at a glance. That's why there are six. You can even highlight them two different colours for 0IV or 31IV

I know you could change it on PC but somehow missed that you could change it in teams.
the same reason I didnt know about clicking mons. Its because there's no reason to take stylus out when handling party.

In Gen 2 and 3 (not sure about the others) you can use cut outside of battle to remove tall grass from the overworld. Hyper Cutter lets you remove more grass each time you use Cut (Emerald and forward)

I didn't know what Soft Boiled did until Gen 3 because you were able to teach it to Clefable in that gen. You can use it and milk drink to deduct HP from the user and add it to the HP of another pokemon if you use it outside of battle. Kind of pointless but it's there

I presume it's a bit like using a mana spell on your healer in an RPG and using their spells to heal others instead of items. Heal your party up with Softboiled then use a single Max Potion on the Softboiled user. Whole party healed for one item.

In an RPG, you would use your healer's HP regen spell to heal HP, then use an MP potion on the healer. Not quite the same because Softboiled uses HP to heal HP, not PP.

I don't recall how much it deducts. iirc it uses half the user's current HP so you get diminishing returns really quickly

That's why I said use Softboiled to heal your party then one Max Potion, not one Ether. 6 mons healed for one potion.

If you wanted to have a Zubat caught in every single Pokemon game, it would be possible - were it not for Colosseum not having Zubat.

Stadium and Stadium 2 have a half-assed localization. The game uses information for Japanese Blue instead of Green for Western Blue. So it'll erroneously say Jynx can be caught in Seafoam, for instance. In addition, the games can be tricked into recognizing Green - if you use the following hack, pic related will happen.

In DPPt, you can press X to make your cursor turn yellow while managing your Pokemon via PC, activating a no confirmation mode where the Pokemon you select will be withdrawn, deposited, or picked up without having to confirm it. This functionality was removed for HGSS.
