I've been thinking about why people don't like these games and I think it's to do with people's expectations. Not that people should change their expectations, they are right to hate it. But USUM are still objectively superior to a lot of recent games. Why is it then that nobody wants to talk about them?
Everyone loves Zelda OoT, but nobody wants a new game like that anymore. There is a certain level of enjoyment derived from a game in it's time, with the graphics being impressive for its time or whatever. USUM, I think is the victim of this phenomenon.
>The Switch is out and the 3DS is old as hell.
>It is mostly the exact same game.
>The game runs worse than XY and slower than it.
>There are no new major endgame features.
>This has been a great year for gaming, not a year people are hungry for titles in.
Even if the game is objectively good, people just don't want to replay a graphically outdated game that is (mostly) the exact same as last year.
What Game Freak have also done is they've released 2 games, not even 1 third version or a DLC. They've released 2 fucking games which are basically DLC versions of the old ones at full price. Even if the game is objectively good, from a subjective standpoint, expectations standpoint and looking at the current market, the customer just doesn't give a fuck and they are right not to.
