What are some of the missed opportunities in previous pokemon games?

For example, I was disappointed that Sinnoh didn't have a proper lakeside town, despite the heavy focus on lakes in the region. Imagine a dockland area for fisherman snaking along the water's edge, log cabins, a nearby forest to explore... would've been cool.

I wanted them to have a more important role in SM, like them coming to this world to fuck things up but Anabel and Looker survived an UB attack from their dimension so they know the threat of UBs and begin gathering strong trainers to fight them like Red and w/e

You can catch them of course, but Nihilego (and in USUM Kartana/Celesteela too) is postgame only

One cool idea I had was a version exclusive champion. I felt that would be a pretty good idea for once and I hope that they do it one day. I thought it would have been cool if in Omega Ruby you fought Steven, and in Alpha Sapphire you fought Wallace. That would have been pretty cool to me at least and like I just said I hope they do end up doing that one day.

Those ideas sound amazing but what I would have loved to see is if Gladion and Lillie swapped roles in USUM. Also if I did it I would put the Ultra Beast hunt thing right after Lusamine disappears. But I guess they wanted to make the Kahunas feel more important to the story and they wanted them to do it instead.

team rocket wasn't a recurring villian, just a small side plot where you stop an admin from stealing local Pokemon

Rogue magma and aqua grunts don't go to other regions to take their water/fire legends, again as a small sub plot before you catch a legendary

I don't mean start making light types but just him, imagine a single Pokemon with it's own unique type and moveset, explain it being the sole light type with some ultra hole bullshit

Seems kind of Kingdom Hearts-esque, which is okay. Instead of Heartless, there'd be UBs. Some of the towns could be affected somehow by the UB invasion and you'd have to team up with the gym leader (had they been included) to fend them off. The whole while you'd have to build a team to help drive back the UBs and defeat the final UB villain or some BS in Ultra Space. Would've been cool, but it seems too grand for Pokemon.
