- Her goal is to become a Dragon Master and she was given an Axew during the start of her journey. That very same Axew wants to evolve into a Haxorus as seen in BW006, but it never did so. Iris only used Axew sparingly outside of training; she used it in battles with Georgia's Beartic, Luke's Golett, Cynthia's Garchomp, and I think Colress' controlled Pokemon. And her Axew learned two moves: Outrage and Giga Impact: on its own without any sort of training, just fighting strong opponents. Axew is rarely used yet it is overpowered, and it never evolved once.
- Iris could have been given a Druddigon as her disobedient, too powerful to use at start of series Pokemon. But no, she was given an Excadrill instead, a Pokemon that wasn't even Dragon-type to begin with. Instead Druddigon was used by a few NPCs; even Clair got one.
- Iris caught an Emolga just because the writers wanted to give the Pikaclone to her, even though it is not a Dragon-type. That Emolga somehow went from disobeying Iris and refusing to battle, to wanting to battle on-screen without any development episode.
- Here's a big one: Iris caught a wild Dragonite that was very powerful but always disobeyed her. She blitzed through the first two rounds of a tournament using this Pokemon that just fought on its own. Then in the third round, Iris's Dragonite "obeyed" her for some inexplicable reason and then started to attack everything around it because it got hit by Dragon Claw for an inexplicable reason. Then a few episodes later, Iris saved it once and then it magically obeyed her. Fuck that.
- Iris is afraid of Ice-type Pokemon but has no problems being around them after a few seconds. There was even an episode where Iris skillfully commanded an Ice-type Pokemon, showing that unlike Misty her fear isn't exactly crippling enough.
- She never fought Trip even though the latter actually wanted to battle her.
- "You're such a kid!"
