There's simply a lot more Pokemon merch being released these days, and Lillie happened to come into existence and become popular at a time when production of (decent quality) Pokemon merchandise was at an all-time high.

Pokemania also had somewhat of a resurgence during late 2016 and throughout 2017 due to the 20th anniversary of the games in 2016, and the 20th anniversary of the anime in 2017.

Lillie just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

actually I hope in the next games, or in the next kanto sequel we will see lilie as postgame op trainer.

I mean in the whole pokemon franchise (without ashnime) there are only 2 characters who had Clefairy as starter. The og red from pokemon manga (not special) and lilly.

They waited until a whole year after Lillie's debut to release all this though (four of the things in OP's pic just came out last month and this month, and one of them has been confirmed to be coming out in February 2018, and the other is confirmed to revealed later in 2018).

That's not shilling, they actually took the time to let her develop a legitimate fan base before releasing all this stuff.

If it's any consolation, Lillie probably won't appear much after this gen, at least for a while. She's too tied to the story of the Gen 7 games. Just like how N, who was heavily tied to the story of his gen, hasn't reappeared so far after B2W2. Red will always be popular. The 25th anniversary is only 4 years away and TPCi could totally milk it with more nostalgia pandering. Meaning more Red.
