I actually like it better than the font in FireRed & LeafGreen. The font in FRLG just doesn't look appealing to me.

no, even on the GBA, the Ruby/Sapphire font looks like shit. FR/LG/Em font was the most aesthetically pleasing.

also, the stretching of a 3:2 image to 16:9 or 8:5 is negligible.
