What is it about Pokemon that makes it so endearing to you /vp/?
It was my first ever game. Ever. I’ve loved every single gen and I’m considering getting a Volcarona/Golisopod tattoo.

I just turned 29. Started my first "real" career type job 2.5 years ago. I couldn't really fit in all of the crap I used to do in graduate school anymore. No time.

But I put 180 hours into Pokemon Sun over a whole bunch of stuff I could do instead.

What keeps it endearing? I don't really know. It just keeps me relaxed and centered I guess. Just had a really comfy playthrough of Ultra Moon. It's how I turn my brain off after a mentally taxing day.

And like this guy >>34582087 I have made a bunch of friends over the years, including with people who originally didn't care for me, over Pokemon. It just brings people together. I spent a couple years in grad school playing in a TCG league. Met some great folks there. The community is for the most part terrific.

It's kind of goofy but the game really did have a substantial impact on my life. Maybe that's why I keep playing it.

Apartments in NY go from anywhere from $2,500-$3,000 a month rent, unless you live in some shitty studio apartment "in da hood" somewhere.

Even people who make $20-$25 an hour here barely make ends meat. I can't imagine how people with kids and families do it.

I just don't like them. I've never really understood the appeal. Especially considering how bad they start to look as you age. I don't need to permanently wear something on my skin to know or show how much I cherish it.

I don't personally understand that, maybe just because I don't tend to lose hobbies, but honestly in 20 years it'll probably be the easiest thing in the world to remove tattoos. My mother had a couple of tattoos she got drunk when she was younger (Like literal nothing squiggles and shit) that she's hated forever and used to put makeup over, she finally realised that you can just get them burned off

Pokemon is one of the few games of the modern day that promotes interaction with the people around you. The plot may not be super great and the main game may be easy but the reason that a lot of older fans play it is because of the social aspect. I can confidently say that Pokemon has brought me many friends throughout my life and, as cheesy as it sounds, tightened the bond between me and other people. The reason it remains so endearing is because it's a social game that nearly everyone's had experience with.

It's honestly as simple as Pokemon having enough nostalgia factor to keep you familiar with it and being so braindead simple that you don't have to commit anything to it.

You can mindlessly mash A through cutscenes and battles without having to pay it any real attention, which makes it easier than most other franchises to just pick up and play.

It's not necessarily a good thing that that series requires zero engagement.

Fuck Pokémon. This is coming from a guy that maxed out his hours on Diamond. Single player is dead. It's a game now designed for retards. Not even kid's games on the Gameboy assumed their audience was this dumb. Multiplayer is dead too. The meta (both fan and official) is a power creep joke full of one hit nukes.

If the next game is anything like XY or SM, I'm dropping the series despite my love for the premise and monster design. Only manchildren and women put up with this shit.

Comfy my asshole. Comfy is for the weak. I won't go out like this. I refuse. The struggle to live fully is the only proof we have that we're truly alive!
