This thing doesn't even get that much marketing attention, the "cute" mascots for this gen are Ash's Rowlet and Litten's Alolan Vulpix.

It really feels like Game Freak just made a Pikaclone for the sake of making one and the marketers didn't know what to do with it when other cute Pokemon like Rowlet, Alolan Vulpix, and Mimikyu proved more popular.

Honestly I feel like more love went into Togedemaru compared to other clones. In that it gets a unique move and cool abilities and they went out of their way to fit it into the context of the Alola environment. Way more fun to use ingame than any other Pikaclone and even pretty viable in VGC.
