unfortunately, over the years, a lot of pokemon fans have apparently become autistic and have a [citation needed] approach to things so even after the manga and FRLG pretty much said "silver is giovanni's son," folks weren't happy until they finally got what amounts to a cartoonish bonus scene between the two characters
likewise here, GF has pretty much shown us what is the case.. what exactly is there left to make explicit? the manga and anime have more room to expand on it, but there's no way to do it in the games without undermining it so as to be trite
it's interesting in both cases that pokemon fans can't understand the relationship between a parent and child until the parent actually stops and verbatim says what the child wants to hear
