Pinsir and Heracross are both single-stage beetles with mega evolutions and aggressive stats/learnsets, the rivalry is a bit more natural than pinsir vs scyther because the latter has scizor and is more DEX than STR

I gotta say, they went all-out with the Pokedex entries in Gen 7.

I have NEVER been interested in them until Sun and Moon. Now I want to read every one of them.

It's like they hired a few real writers instead of bullshitting it this whole time and it shows.

It helps that SM introduced over 300 new dex entries, probably near 350, then USUM introduced another 450 or so. Every dex entry this generation has been brand new with very few exceptions.
For the last 4 generations they were just copy-pasting everything with extremely rare, minor grammatical tweaks. It wasn't worth reading since it was the same exact shit you saw in RSE.

Archeops fed on Omanyte in the past.
Omastar is an ancient ancestor of Octillery.
Aerodactyl often attacked Cranidos, who fended them off with headbutts.
Likewise, Rampardos and Bastiodon tended to butt heads as well.
Carracosta hunted Omanyte and Omastar. It swallowed them whole as eating their shells strengthened its own.

Excuse me, it was more like 700 entries in SM and 900 in USUM. I forgot to multiply by two since there's two versions.
Prior to SMUSUM, only new pokemon got new entries, and separate forms did not have separate entries. 3rd versions/remakes/sequels/whatever also just had copypasted dex entries since they introduced 0 pokemon, and USUM bucked both those trends.

Every Pokemon got an entry for each version so it's closer to (600 + 2 for each form) + (800 + 2 for each form - 5 because 6 UBs have a copypasted entry)
