despite being painfully obvious I don't think people knew Lysandre was the boss of Team Flare until at the end. I don't remember much about X/Y but was that one E4 member shown as a member of Team Flare like her character in the anime?

It's still no reason for that downgrade, gym leaders became so stale in gen 6 i bet that was the reason we got trial captains in gen 7, instead of investing in the plot leaving gameplay behind like in gen 5, gen 6 and 7 jus added your season anime plot and forgot about the gameplay.

Ok but this goes for every game? The entire world, region, or just one town could easily overpower any team. Gym leaders even could. This is one of the biggest faults in the series and it all stems from PC being a special snowflake so the player can feel good and going by the same formula for every game, but you fucking autists want the same game into eternity so why even play new ones anyway
