- Amazing story and character development
- BW only: You can only use new Pokemon until the credits. These are the only games outside of Gen I that let you do this. It makes you learn the type chart for these Pokemon all over again, and you are forced to use them instead of your fan favorites.
- Every gym leader is shown doing something outside of their gyms, and they all have occupations. The Striation gym leaders are waiters, Lenora is a museum curator and archaeologist, Burgh is an artist, Elesa is a model, Clay is a miner, Skyla is a pilot, Brycen is an actor, Drayden is a mayor, Roxie is a musician, Marlon is a fisherman, Cheren is an instructor, etc.
- The introduction of seasons, which makes environments look more interesting and it spices events up.
- The Elite Four are all pretty unique this time around too. Shauntal is an author who uses her experience in battles to write novels. Grimsley is a gambler who is always betting everything in battle and makes philosophical speeches. Caitlin was the Battle Palace princess in Platinum and HGSS's Battle Frontier, and a wealthy, sheltered young woman. Marshall is Alder's apprentice who seeks strength like Cheren does. These E4 members have the most development and focus of them all.
- Introduces some of the best Pokemon, abilities, items, etc. of any generation
- You can use TMs as many times as you want.
- Shiny Charm was introduced in B2W2.
- Dynamic music changes in many areas and even during battles
- Much of the shit that people criticized Gen IV for was fixed in Gen V
- Had a sequel that expanded BW's storyline and characters, and even included the most post-game features out of any Pokemon title thus far.
