I fucking loved the fossil mining minigame in DPP. It was one of my favorite things in this generation.
Does anybody know if it was based on some past fully fledged arcade game, or something? Or if there are some other games that focus specifically on this archeology game mechanic?

Yeah, actually played this one pretty recently. It reminded me how much I liked the sinnoh version (what with there being multiple fossils scattered over the board)

The Sinnoh Underground in general was amazing. Setting up and decorating your base, chasing your friends down the tunnels as they made away with your flag, burying spheres, excavating, etc.

I really hope GF will bring back and implement more content like the Underground and secret bases. It's a shame they don't.

Fossil Fighters and the direct sequel are great for that fossil minigame. Third installment was hot garbage though.

Hopefully it didn't kill the series, I'd love there to be more animals and to have the older, better mining minigame back.
